Why we exist

Buying a water softener in the US usually means booking an in-home consultation, giving up two hours of an evening, and only then finding out what it costs. If the number is wrong for you, that is two hours you will not get back — and you have had a sales pitch in your kitchen for nothing.

We think you should be able to find out roughly what it costs before any of that happens. So the first thing this site does is give you a price range from six questions, and the second thing it does is introduce you to installers who already know they are being compared.

How it works

1. You answer six questions. Bathrooms, household size, city or well water, and which system type you lean towards. Two minutes, no phone call.
2. You see a price range. On screen, based on 2026 US installed prices for a home like yours.
3. We match you with installers. Up to three, all licensed and insured, all covering your ZIP code.
4. They quote. You decide. Or you decide against the whole thing — that is a perfectly good outcome and it costs you nothing.

How we make money, and why it doesn’t change your price

Installers pay us for the introduction. That is the whole model, and it is worth being plain about it because it is the question you should be asking of any comparison site.

What it means in practice: we are paid the same regardless of which installer you choose, what system you buy, or what you spend. No manufacturer pays for placement. Nothing on this site is steering you towards a particular brand, and there is no version of this where you pay more because you came through us — installers quote you their price, not a marked-up one.

What “licensed and vetted” means

Before an installer receives enquiries from us we check:

• They hold the plumbing or water-treatment license their state requires.
• They carry current liability insurance.
• They actually cover the ZIP codes they claim to.
• They have a real business address and a traceable trading history.

After that it is continuous rather than one-off. We track what happens to the enquiries we send — whether people were contacted, whether quotes arrived, what customers said afterwards — and installers who do not keep it up stop receiving enquiries.

What we promise

• A maximum of three installers. Not eight. You are not going to spend a week fielding calls.
• We don’t sell your details on. They go to the installers matched to your ZIP and nowhere else.
• We confirm every enquiry. A code by text, or a call from our team, before anything is passed on.
• You can have your data deleted. Ask us and it goes. See the privacy policy.

The company behind the site

Water Softener Quotes is operated by The Lead Advisory Company Limited, a UK-registered comparison business that has been running quote-comparison services since 2005. We operate more than thirty comparison sites across home improvement, mobility and financial services, in the UK, the US, France, Spain and Italy — including our UK sister site for water softeners.

Being a UK company running a US site is worth stating plainly rather than hiding. The installers are American, licensed in their own states, and the enquiries are handled to US rules — including TCPA consent and state privacy law. The company that owns the site is registered in England.
